What are the qualities of good supervisor(boss)?

In my view, the supervisor should hold the following good qualities. I will categorize these qualities into two.

1) The characteristics that good manager should possessEasily Approachable Motivation Caring Guidance Flexible but assertive Visionary Management skills

2) The characteristics that good manager should avoidShorttempered Harassment Authoritarianism

The supervisor should be easily approachable so that it keeps the channel open for the sub-ordinates or employees to communicate their ideas,complaints easily. The employees productivity can be increaed by keeping them motivated. It encourages them to get involved in what they are doing rather simply doing for shake of doing it.Caring is another important thing the manager should possess because it gives some level of secure and comfortable feeling for the team members. The manager should not only managing the team but also should lead the team with proper guidance.

The manager should create cooperative enviornment not competetive enviornment for their team members. This will give win-win situation for all the members.

Also we are not machines so everybody needs little flexibility which gives freedom to employees to manage things easily both at work and outside work.

Last, but not least, manager should have forward thinking so that his entire team can reap the benefits of the posotive outcome.In addition to having all the above good qualities, the manager should not have the following negative qualities. The shorttempered manager puts everybody in ugly situation and nobody wants shorttempered manager. Also people wants to have some level of respect and freedom. So everybody dislikes authoritarianism behavior of their manager. The harasment is not only a bad quality for a manager but also for human kind.
