Identify and describe the most interesting geographical features of India

India is a peninsula, three sides surrouned by water and one side surrounded by land. Bay of bengal is on the East,Arabic ocean is on the West and Indian ocean is on the south. North is secured by mount Everest,also known as Himalaya, the highest mountain on earth. The country is located in Sothern Asia.

The country has area of 3.3 million square kilometer and has 4000 miles coast lines. It is the seventh largest country in the world.The geography is extreamly diverse, with landscape ranging from snow covered mountains, deserts,plains and plateaus. India is bordered by Pakistan,Bangaladesh, China,Nepal,Afghanistan and Bhutan. The country is divided into 28 states and 6 union territories.


There are three main rivers, namely Sindhu,Ganga and Brahmaputra. The river Ganga has long history of reverence and is worshiped by Hindus. It is India's longest river, it stats from Himalaya hills and runs mostly in northern part of india for about 1500 miles.

The country is particulary rick in natural resources. Along with 56% of cultivatable land, it has significant amount of Coal, Iron ore, Manganese, Mica and Natural Gas.
